Our Schools

At the heart of our schools are the people who show up for our kids every day: everyone from our deans and principals to our teachers, counselors, Nutrition Services and custodial staff, and everyone else who makes our buildings safe, bright, nurturing places to learn.

As a proud product of Eastern Carver County Schools, I carry with me every single teacher I had along my journey. Shout-outs to Mrs. Bloomquist, Mrs. Beard, Mrs. Weber, Mr. Downs, Mr. Geffert, Sra. Clark-Miles, Mr. Powell, Mr. Commers, Ms. Schierts... the list goes on. Each of them left an imprint on me as both a learner and a human, and I am immensely grateful for the thousands of lives they touched along their teaching journeys.

We need to continue to invest in educators like these. We also need to invest in the buildings in which our children learn, addressing overcrowding and aging infrastructure. Our community has shown that it is ready and willing to invest in our schools, and the school board can be the bold advocates to see that it happens.

We need to expand access and opportunity for all students. Providing more resources and needed help for one student does not negatively impact the educational experience of another. On the contrary, all our teachers and every student should be able to experience the magic of a classroom where everyone is supported and flourishing.

We need to continue to open lines of communication and to have all the hard, honest conversations about our schools. We need to continue to build real relationships throughout our district and within our community. In short, we need to do all we can to ensure a better future for all of our learners, from the first day of school to the last each year, and from the first day of kindergarten to graduation.
